Hi, I’m Ray England, the Produce Guy behind Produce Talk.com. I have over thirty years experience in the produce retailing arena, so I hope that earns the moniker of “Produce Industry Veteran” but if nothing else, it means that I’m as old or older than many of you that find the time to read this Bio.

Thirty years; actually closer to thirty five now, is a long time to spend in one industry, but as many of you out there know, the Produce business gets in your blood. During my thirty plus years working around produce, I’ve had the opportunity to work for multiple retailers operating a multitude of formats in various parts of our great country; formats such as those that appeal to a well educated high income consumer, consumers with rural tastes, consumers of various ethnic makeup, or to the consumer looking for natural and organic fare.

Like many of you I’ve worked at all levels of the retail side of the produce industry. I’ve worked in the trenches as a produce clerk, as a produce buyer, supervisor, and lastly as a produce director and VP of Produce and Floral merchandising. The experience I’ve gained has taught me many things, including the fact that there are multiple avenues to go to market, multiple ways to manage your business and find success. Ultimately though, if you don’t satisfy your customer, everything else is just an exercise in futility. This I believe is a true statement for both the retailer and supplier.
